This app is ideal for General Aviation pilots that want weather and crosswind details for their local airfields.

RW XWind enables fixed wing, rotary or glider pilots to display a selection of favourite airfields, showing the runway with the least crosswind component calculated from the METAR data for the airfield (or closest airfield if none directly available).

The airfields can be selected either from the supplied standard database (currently UK licenced airfields only) or by adding your own custom airfield(s). The METARs for the airfield(s) are automatically retrieved and if no direct match is available, the nearest airfield weather is used (up to a preference distance limit). The crosswind/headwind components of each runway are then calculated and the runway with the lowest crosswind component is automatically displayed on the front page. This shows "at a glance" a list of favourite airfields, and the expected landing runway with crosswind/headwinds shown. Any crosswind that exceeds the maximum crosswind limit preference is automatically displayed in red. Runways are classified as hard, grass or sand, and can be included/excluded using preferences.

Features at a glance:
• Perfect for General Aviation pilots that want weather for their local airfields, not just main airports
• UK licenced airfields included in supplied database (with accurate up-to-date magnetic variation)
• Ability to add custom airfield for anywhere in the world, includes an automatic "here" GPS function to complete the latitude/longitude based on current location
• Ability to display METAR/TAF information for "closest" airfield if none available for specific airfield
• Ability to restrict data based on runway type (hard, grass, sand) to suit aircraft/pilot preference
• Ability to set crosswind limit preference, which will then highlight in red any airfield/runway that exceeds this limit
• Ability to set maximum metar radial distance, preventing the retrieval of METAR from the closest airfield if it exceeds the limit set
• Ability to display a map showing the location of the airfield

NOTE: This app is NOT to be used as primary means of navigational aid
